ON THE MOVE

STOP BY 68 PARK STREET

We are thrilled to announce that the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory has moved to its new home at 68 Park Street, in the heart of Tupper Lake. The historic Purdy Building, now our base, has already increased our visibility among local members and tourists alike.

Our new location is not just a move but an opportunity to connect with more astronomy enthusiasts. The centerpiece of our display is the historic Everest telescope, prominently featured in the front window. This museum-style display has sparked curiosity and interest, drawing in both long-time residents and first-time visitors.

An additional display in the entryway features a 24/7 live-stream from the International Space Station directly from NASA. This is a nod to an increase in our direct involvement with NASA as well as the efforts we are making to lead the area with advanced technologies. The relocation marks a significant milestone for the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory. The community’s response has been overwhelmingly positive, with more people engaging in our programs and visiting our facility. The historic Everest telescope, a symbol of our commitment to astronomical education and history, serves as a beacon, inviting all to explore the wonders of the universe.

We look forward to continuing our mission of fostering a love for astronomy and providing educational opportunities for all ages. Come visit us at the Purdy Building and be a part of our growing community of star gazers and space enthusiasts

ANOTHER STEP FORWARD

STARLAB PORTABLE PLANETARIUM

The Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory recently acquired a cutting-edge digital StarLab portable planetarium. This new addition has already made its mark by traveling to schools in the area, bringing the wonders of the universe directly to students. The mobile planetarium provides an immersive experience that captivates young minds and fosters a deeper interest in astronomy.

Beyond its travels to educational institutions, the StarLab will feature regularly scheduled shows for the community at our new 68 Park Street location. These shows will offer a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to explore the cosmos in an interactive and engaging manner. The portable planetarium’s advanced technology ensures that each presentation is both educational and visually stunning, making it a valuable asset for the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory.

The acquisition of the StarLab represents a significant step toward the construction of a permanent planetarium at our existing property on 178 Big Wolf Road in Tupper Lake. By demonstrating the community’s interest and support for such initiatives, the StarLab helps build momentum for this ambitious project. The goal is to create a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for astronomical education and outreach in the region. With the StarLab, the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory continues to expand its reach and impact. This innovative tool not only enhances current programming but also lays the groundwork for future developments that will further enrich the community’s understanding and appreciation of the universe.

Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming StarLab shows and other exciting developments at the Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory. The journey to the stars has never been more accessible, and the future looks bright for astronomy enthusiasts in Tupper Lake and beyond. School visits with the new digital StarLab booked for STEM & Astronomy throughout the Adirondacks.
