Astro Quiz 12: Earth-Sun distance?

Question #12 – How far is the Earth from the Sun?

Answer:

The average distance between the Earth and the Sun is about 93 million miles - that's the number 93 followed by six zeros! The Earth, however, does not orbit the Sun in a perfect circle. The path is actually in the shape of an ellipse, like a slightly squished circle. The Earth is closest to the Sun in January when it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
